Constructing a first-class hospital for Jersey

Winners of youth engagement competition announced

Our Hospital Project (OHP) are pleased to announce the winners of our first youth engagement competition, 'Express Yourself!'.

We received 85 entries which included creative, innovative, fun and thoughtful responses to the question we posed to Jersey's young people, 'How can Jersey's Our Hospital Project help to make the Island a better place?'

Our panel of judges deliberated on the range of entries from students across years 7 - 12, to arrive at a short list of ten entries. They then unanimously decided on the winning entry.

Congratulations to Year 9 student, Ruby Butler for her winning entry, a poem called 'A Vision of the Future' - an uplifting and positive visioning of the many benefits that the new hospital will bring.

Ruby won a £500 prize, comprising a £250 iQ Store gift card and a £250 donation to her local charity of choice, Dementia Jersey.

All the entries were then put in a draw, and Year 12 student, Amy Kempster, was chosen to receive a £100 prize, comprising a £50 iQ Store gift card and a £50 donation to her local charity of choice, Teenage Cancer Trust Jersey.

This first OHP youth engagement activity was open to Jersey Youth Parliament members and schools teaching the Design Engineer Construct! (DEC!) course, such as Les Quennevais School, Le Rocquier, Hautlieu and Highlands College. The team at OHP are looking forward to the next opportunity to interest and engage even more young Islanders via the project.
