Constructing a first-class hospital for Jersey

OHP hosts 'This is Me' coffee morning

News | Social Value

This year for Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), OHP are highlighting the importance of talking in managing our team's mental health and well-being.

To get the conversation going, we introduced our team to the podcast, ‘This is ME’, at the beginning of the MHAW. The podcast was recently launched by two Jerseymen, Alan Falle (Head of Sixth Form, Victoria College) and Stephen Coleman (Digital Producer, Government of Jersey). We then invited the team to drop their feedback, reflections and questions on the podcast and the topic, anonymously into a 'This is Me' mailbox in the staff kitchen. Today, to round off MHAW, we hosted a team coffee morning where our special guests, Alan and Stephen talked to us about their podcast and their own mental health journeys. They then read out the comments, answered some questions and encouraged the OHP team to share their own experiences of how mental health is perceived in the various countries where they've come from or worked in.

At OHP, we are committed to improving the mental health and well-being of Jersey's construction workers. Together with our social value partners, Mind Jersey and Highlands College, we developed and embedded a Mental Health & Well-being module into every construction course being taught at Highlands College from September 2021. Our aim is to equip construction graduates with the tools to look after their own and their peers' mental health as they transition from the classroom to the workplace - bringing mental health and safety on par with physical health and safety as a workplace priority.
